Fiber artists Kenny Nix, and Kelly Stewart created Sacramento Mountain Weavers in 2002, after acquiring two looms from a cousin in Illinois. They were then relocated to our home based studio in Euless, Texas. Our passion for textiles quickly led us in many directions, including designing fabric that we execute on the looms.Everyday in our studio is a new experience, with a new result. We draw from a variety of sources, many of which are recycled materials.Every rug is unique to the other, many are one-of-a-kind, which make it both interesting, and exciting when it is time for the rugs to come off of the loom. Each rug is crafted with as much as ten hours of labor. The process is the same for every rug, yet the results are as numerous as there are snow flakes. The colors, texture, and the shade of color are what binds us to our craft. As with all artists, we endow a small part of ourselves in every piece that we craft, paying attention to detail and style. We hope you enjoy the fruits of our journey! Kenny Nix Kelly Stewart
A Little Information About Our Rugs
Currently on our looms we are weaving some very colorful rugs, using Pendelton wool selvages(scrap from their industry).Being a New Mexico native(Kelly), our work tends to have more of a Southwestern flavor, and influence on our work. Our handwovens are perfect for your Southwest home, or business, giving a flare to, and enhancing your Rocky Mountain living, and Southwest life style. We love to blend in different materials at times like leathers, and denim(recycled from blue jeans). These combinations often yield unexpected surprises. Our Handcrafted rugs are one-of-a-kind because of the materials we use.Often we can not duplicate our work, which make them even more of a unique item. When you purchase our Handwoven rugs you are helping to keep an ancient craft alive.Because we devote so much time to achieving the perfect blend of these cloths, and fibers, our rugs are very distinctive. Alot of interest has been generated in our craft, by our attendance of numerous juried art shows, and our reputation has rapidly spread through word of mouth. We currently have two exclusive stores which carry our rugs, and now through our website, we hope to be able to share our work with even more people who appreciate unique, one-of-a-kind handmade items.
